Words to know in Nail Art
Nowadays, more and more manicure techniques are emerging. The best known, Nail Art or the art of nail decoration requires perfect technique and mastering all aspects, especially the lexicon. So what is the essential material to master this art? And how to master the nail art dictionary?
Nail Art Dictionary
Every day we notice the emergence of new nail art techniques and some new nail supply. An increasingly rich lexicon follows. Here are the terms used in the lexical field of nail art which will allow you to be knowledgeable on the subject.
A – MATERIAL
UV or LED or CCFL lamp: this is the UV or LED curing lamp depending on the nail polish or gel used by the prosthetist.
Capsules: false nails that are placed at the end of the nails. They will be standardized with the gel or resin process later Stickers or stickers
Rhinestones stickers and sequins: these are the jewels, stickers and sequins to put on the nail as decoration
Brushes: several forms of brushes are used by the prosthetist:
-flat brushes: or angled brushes used in particular in One Stroke techniques
-fine brushes or Liners for precision or tracing linear shapes
-fine-bristle brushes typically used for final touch-ups
-the Fan Brush used for acrylic decoration or highlighting glitter on the nails
Dotting tool: it is a stylus that allows you to make circular decorations in the form of dots of different sizes.
B – VARNISHES
The top-coat: transparent, it is used as a base before installation and as a finisher after
Permanent and semi-permanent: they last longer than basic nail polish. 2 to 3 weeks
Tranzitors: these are varnishes of normal color with the particularity of becoming darker by mixing them with the top coat
Photochromics: these are varnishes that change under UV rays
Mattifying agents: these are mostly transparent varnishes which allow the layer of varnish already applied to be mattified.
Crackles: it must be placed on a varnish base which will produce a cracked, decomposed effect
Magnetics: By applying this varnish and exposing it to a magnet, the appearance of the varnish changes and takes the shape of the magnet.
Holographics: Usually used for the rainbow effect.
C – TECHNIQUES
French manicure: probably the best known, this technique involves drawing white lines on the edges of the nails. There is also the reverse French which, as its name suggests, consists of reversing the technique of the French
Water marble: accumulation of nail polish on the surface of the water; the principle is to then transfer them directly to the nail. There are several types of water marble including the mille feuille or the rainbow
Dry marbling: same principle as water marble except that it is done dry using a liner for a rainbow or color gradient effect.
Stamping: using a stamp, the prosthetist will stick or stamp special pre-printed shapes
One stock: this is a method of manicuring the nail in two colors using a single brush
Relief: draw freehand patterns using the materials available. This can be done with nail polish or in 3D with resin or gel
Watercolor: this technique consists of drawing patterns in a gradient of transparency
Low nail: it is a manicure technique that only uses transparent, clear or nude varnishes
